Hospital Records proudly present the fourth instalment of their 2022 Ultrasounds release series which shines a spotlight on some of the best artists outside of the NHS roster – with the talented MC and vocalist Emz wrapping up the series with his volume 4 three-tracker. The Bristol-based MC has been keeping busy this year with countless radio spins alongside hosting the weekly club mixes on Sian Anderson’s BBC 1Xtra show, heaps of club and festival bookings and a healthy selection of collaborative and solo releases under his belt. No stranger to shelling down drum and bass productions, he’s released anthems such as the FIFA 23-selected ‘READY4DEM’ with Watch The Ride from ‘Lens’ Hospital Mixtape,’ and ‘Don’t Stress’ with Sam Binga on Critical Music. Now he returns to Hospital Records to drop his scorcher of an EP for a debut standalone release on the south London imprint.
London-born & Bristol-based, Emz kicks the EP off with ‘Stellar’ alongside Sir Hiss which brings listeners an exquisite upbeat bouncer layered with ravey piano stabs and a stomping bassline. Sir Hiss’ production compliments Emz’s cold cut punchlines and playful rhymes as the vibes flood to your soundsystem in abundance.
On ‘Good Good’, expect a feel-good D&B cut peppered with sharp-edged drums and soulful vibe bringing courtesy of rising artist Kanobie. Delving into the soulful sounds of drum & bass, Emz delivers buttery melodies on the chorus before drawing for a switch with his classic feel good flows and untestable wordplay.
The third and final track ‘E-Style’ is packed with jungle flavours as Emz glides effortlessly over the break-fuelled instrumental, further proving his musical versatility and ability to spit over any style and any tempo. The infectious energy on this track is set to tear up raves worldwide as producer Gemi supplies the goods with booming subs and trippy soundscapes.
And that’s a wrap for Hospital Records’ widely-renowned ‘Ultrasounds’ EP series which saw standalone releases from Villem, Slay, Anaïs and Emz throughout 2022. Keep an eye out for what they’ve got in store next year!
