SÓNAR 2022. Tickets for Sónar Barcelona 2022 go on sale, with 27 new shows added to the line up.

Featuring among the new additions are global stars such as Eric Prydz, Nathy Peluso, Folamour, Reinier Zonneveld, Helena Hauff, Kiddy Smile, Avalon Emerson, and Tiga and Hudson Mohawke presenting their new project Love Minus Zero.

Sónar’s 2022 edition dials up the BPMs, increases the celebratory spirit and doubles down on its commitment to diversity and transgression. Brazillian DJ ANNA, the pan-African collaboration Scotch Rolex, Berlins’ hard techno collective Herrensauna, New York’s similarly trailblazing force behind the GHE20G0TH1K parties Venus X, the updated UK Garage of Conducta, Drum and Bass innovators Critical Soundsystem and Manara’s Future-Grime, are just a few of the proposals pushing dance music forward at this years’ festival.

These artists join previously announced artists including The Chemical Brothers, The Blaze, Arca, Oneohtrix Point Never, The Blessed Madonna, Charlotte de Witte, Princess Nokia, Channel Tres, Serpentwithfeet, Joy Orbison, AJ Tracey, Polo & Pan, Richie Hawtin, Dj Marcelle/Another Nice Mess, Eris Drew B2B Octo Octa, DJ Python, Skee Mask, Morad or Ms Nina, with many more shows to be revealed soon.

Tickets and Delegate Passes for Sónar 2022 go on sale today, exclusively via DICE here.
Following the previously announced edition of Sónar Istanbul on the 2nd October 2021, the next international edition of the festival will be Sónar Lisboa, on the 8th, 9th and 10th April 2022. The festival will be spread across 5 spaces in the city, with a day and night program focused on music and audiovisual creation. The line ups for both festivals will be announced very soon.

Sónar adds 27 new artists to the line up for the festival, taking place in Barcelona on the 16th, 17th and 18th of June 2022 in its usual venues of Fira Montjuic and Fira Gran Via.

Every one of today’s announced shows are leading the way in their particular branch of club and electronic music, while contributing to the overall richness and diversity of the scene, augmenting the innovative, transgressive and celebratory nature of the 2022 edition of the Barcelona Festival.

Among the best known names are Eric Prydz, whose technologically advanced audiovisual sets always make an impression, Nathy Peluso, who has put her stamp on contemporary latin pop and hip-hop, and Kiddy Smile the life and soul of the Parisian ballroom house scene.

Sónar 2022 also presents a number of artists at the leading edge of house and techno. Some, such as Brazil’s ANNA and The Netherland’s Reinier Zonneveld will be making their festival debuts, while others, such as the USA’s Avalon Emerson, or the German EBM powerhouse Helena Hauff, make an overdue return. And for the first time at Sónar 2022, Berlin collective Herrensauna, will bring their wildly transgressive underground hard techno party to life in an enlarged XXL format with a 6hr set from resident DJs CEM, MCMLXXXV, Salome and Cadency.

More debuts from well known names: French DJ Folamour will debut at Sónar with Folamour Power to the PPL AV show, his unique take on house and disco in an AV format, while two old friends of the festival Tiga and Hudson Mohawke will present their new project ‘Love Minus Zero’: a four-handed love letter to rave and euphoric dance. As if all this wasn’t enough, much respected UK dj producers Midland and Shanti Celeste will team up for a b2b set to bring the sun up over Sónar 2022.

Across the line up, genres continue to be crossed and boundaries shattered, with the pioneering dj experiments of New York’s GHE20G0TH1K parties founder Venus X, Timedance boss Batu’s modern take on the Bristol sound, the musical melting-pot of Manara’s future R&B and grime, and, especially, Scotch Rolex: a collaborative project from the ever-innovative Nyege Nyege Tapes featuring chiptune legend DJ Scotch Egg, Kenyan grindcore vocalist Lord Spikeheart (Duma), and the explosive Ugandan MC Yallah.

Other sounds, styles and genres to be featured include: the next wave of UK garage with Conducta, Drum and Bass with Critical Soundsystem, complex polyrhythms with Nihiloxica, an update of 70’s African disco with Nu-Genea live band (formerly Nu-Guinea), and much much more.

And as always, Sónar 2022 serves as a platform and springboard for the most exciting and relevant artists on the local and national scene. This year’s highlights include the madrigal inspired vocal pop of Tarta Relena, the trance-trap stylings of ETM, the atmospheric club of Gazzi as well as two of Barcelona’s most in demand DJs – Lucient and DJohnston.

Sónar 2022 so far…
Today’s new additions supercharge the line up for the most highly anticipated edition of the festival in history. Already announced for 2022 are UK electronica legends The Chemical Brothers with new music and an A/V show, and brand new live shows from The Blaze, Arca, Oneohtrix Point Never, Princess Nokia, Channel Tres, Serpentwithfeet, Joy Orbison or Louisahhh. Also performing live at the festival will be AJ Tracey, Polo & Pan, Tomm¥ €a$h, Sega Bodega, Morad, Lafawndah, Ms Nina, Locoplaya and Recycled J. These live shows join DJ sets from stars of the scene such as The Blessed Madonna, Charlotte de Witte, Richie Hawtin, Dj Marcelle/Another Nice Mess, Eris Drew B2B Octo Octa, DJ Python, Skee Mask, Jayda G, Lechuga Zafiro, Jamz Supernova, La Fleur, Chico Blanco and Jyoty.

While many of today’s brightest talents are already represented, the line up is by no means complete, with more artists to be announced in the coming months.
