BMC 2023. Brighton Music Conference attracts record numbers for 10th edition.

On Day 1 the welcome networking party hosted by AFEM took place on Wednesday 24th May, giving attendees the opportunity to network and enjoy the sunset and sea views with music courtesy of Richard Earnshaw, Ridney, Ralph Lawson, Simon Field and Sophie Lloyd.

Day 2 kicked off with a networking breakfast hosted by shesaid.so and featured keynote interviews with Dave Clarke, Fabio & Grooverider and Simon Dunmore. Other sessions included; WHERE MUSIC MATTERS – 20 Years of Toolroom, HE.SHE.THEY – 5 Years, Making Sense of the Modern Music Industry presented by FUGA & Downtown, A Fresh Approach to Music Copyright in association with PRS for Music, Rights, Registrations and Renumeration with rightsHUB, Electronic Music Shapes Communities, Culture and Communities presented by NTIA, Power of Sound with Elemental Sound, Harm Reductions in association with ACS, A&R Feedback Sessions with Toolroom Records, Producer Q&A presented by BIMM and James Hype demo with Future Music.

Day 3 was another full day of informative sessions including; DJ Promo presented by Inflyte, The Importance of Communities in the Music Industry with shesaid.so, Unlock the Value of Radio in association with WARM, Mental Health with BIMM, Real Deal Negotiations presented by Creative Law, When Music Meets AI with AFEM, Social Responsibility in association with Last Night a DJ Saved my Life, Music Furry Friends and Your Mind presented with Getahead, The Stage of independence with AIM, Producer Q&A with BIMM, Top 10 techniques every producer Should Know in association with Steinberg, Artificial Intelligence with Thumberboom and What it takes to get your music Signed presented by Mixmasters.

BMC also hosted 6 exclusive dj sets in partnership with Beatport on the i360 Viewing Tower held 450 feet above the city overlooking Brighton seafront. On Thursday 25th May will be Radio 1’s Charlie Tee went back 2 back with Pola & Bryson from the mighty Shogun Audio, followed by Mark Knight – Where Music Matters, celebrating 20 years of Toolroom Records with the closing set from Alan Fitzpatrick. On Friday 26th May BMC were delighted that the legendary Carl Cox will take to the decks for an exclusive sunset DJ set up on the pod. A special showcase from Steve Mac and Irvine Welsh’s new label Jack Said What followed with Jon Carter, Steve Mac, Serge Santiago and Irvine Welsh all going back to back to back. The Baron of Techno Dave Clarke made his debut in the pod for the final session of the 10th edition.

Networking is also a big part of the BMC ethos and hundreds of people attended numerous networking events at some of Brighton’s best-loved venues such as Rockwater, The Tempest and The Enter Art Gallery.

BMC would like to give a huge shout to all those who have helped make the conference such a resounding success; their brilliant team of staff, everyone at i360, the fantastic panellists, artists and DJs, the many venues across town hosting our parties, club nights and networking sessions – and of course, all of the attendees.
