The 4th edition of Sónar Lisboa reveals the first names from an eclectic line-up featuring pioneers of club culture and emerging artists. The upcoming edition of Sónar Lisboa will take place on 11th, 12th, and 13th April 2025, in the Parque Eduardo VII, in the heart of the Portuguese capital. The festival marks the kick off for the 2025 season and strengthens Lisbon’s reputation as a hub for cutting-edge electronic music over one unforgettable weekend.
This first line-up release places a strong emphasis on classic techno and house, with Marcel Dettmann’s new live set My Own Shadow, DJ sets by Anetha and Nina Kraviz and underground selectors ISAbella and BASHKKA b2b Ogazón. There’s also a brand-new audiovisual show from Max Cooper.
The festival will also feature artists known for breaking boundaries and crossing genres, in a celebration of contemporary club culture and the enduring legacy of rave. German pioneers Modeselektor will deliver one of their wide-ranging DJ sets, and Gabber Eleganza will bring his The Hakke Show to Portugal for the first time. Other highlights include multidisciplinary artist Juliana Huxtable, iconic French DJ Jennifer Cardini, Madrid’s rave star Héctor Oaks, emerging Brazilian DJ Clementaum, the critically acclaimed selector JASSS, and the ultra-fast bass stylings of NOIA and Amor Satyr & Siu Mata.
These are just the first 15 names announced from a lineup that will include many more artists, bringing visibility to local collectives and labels, international stars, established names, and bold, experimental performances. The full lineup and more details will be announced soon.
Sónar Lisboa’s fourth edition will unfold across a weekend packed full of shows and DJ sets on April 11th, 12th, and 13th, 2025. A unique artistic programme celebrating the present and exploring the future of dance music, tailor made for audiences who are open of mind and adventurous of spirit.
Sónar Lisboa 2025 is two festivals in one: Sónar by Day (Saturday 12th April, and Sunday 13th April) and Sónar by Night (Friday 11th April, and Saturday 12th April). Both will take place in the green, urban oasis of Parque Eduardo VII, with different formats adapted to the complementary lineups.
Sónar by Day features three stages (two outdoors and one indoors), treating audiences to a diverse range of sounds and formats that represent the reality of the Lisbon and international music and cultural scene in 2025, and beyond, in a laid-back, celebratory atmosphere.
Sónar by Night, delivers a complete club experience on a single stage, allowing audiences to immerse themselves in a bold musical and audiovisual program, with DJ sets and live shows connecting current and future club culture.
Today’s first announcement includes a new live set entitled My Own Shadow by Marcel Dettmann, resident at Berlin’s legendary Berghain. He’s joined by the well-honed techno of Nina Kraviz, and rising French techno titan Anetha. Elsewhere, there’s a brand-new concept-driven AV show from audiovisual artist Max Cooper, and a pair of masterclasses in house and techno from ISAbella and BASHKKA b2b Ogazón.
This first announcement also features artists known for breaking the mould, effortlessly moving across genres, and embodying the contemporary rave spirit. The DJ duo of Modeselektor, rarely seen in Portugal, bring their wide-ranging references and one-of-a-kind skills, while Gabber Eleganza’s The Hakke Show, pays tribute to hardcore and post-rave culture with a focus on the hakke dancers who made the Dutch gabber scene unique. The announcement is rounded out with DJ sets from multidisciplinary artist Juliana Huxtable, pioneering French club icon Jennifer Cardini, longtime festival friend Héctor Oaks, rising stars Clementaum and NOIA, the never-predictable JASSS, and the high-velocity beats of Amor Satyr & Siu Mata.
In a city famed as European reference point for electronic music, Sónar promises an unforgettable weekend where attendees can dance while discovering new acts, underground sounds from local micro-scenes, and the kind of top international shows that only Sónar can bring together—all within a welcoming, open environment where audience curiosity drives the festival experience.
For the third year in a row, the festival will take place in the heart of the city, at the historic Parque Eduardo VII, easily accessible by public transport. At the centre of the site is the Pavilhão Carlos Lopes, a building that was designed a century ago as the Pavilion of Portuguese Industries at the International Exposition in Rio de Janeiro and later moved to Lisbon to become one of the most iconic and recognizable venues in the city, and part of its cultural heritage.
Sónar Lisboa will kick off the 2025 season for Sónar, which will then bring the best of the electronic music scene to Sónar Istanbul on May 9th and 10th, celebrating its 9th edition in the Turkish city, before the 32nd edition of Sónar in Barcelona on June 12th, 13th, and 14th. About Sónar.
Sónar is a pioneering festival that’s been championing electronic music and digital culture since its first edition in 1994. Each year in June, audiences come to Barcelona for Sónar, drawn to the festival’s forward-thinking programming, innovative format, and unique atmosphere. Year upon year, Sónar brings together emerging artists and showcases new trends from music and beyond.
As well as hosting the most influential artists from around the world, it also acts as a proving ground for new projects, collaborations and creations that build bridges between music, performance, and technology. Since 2013, much of this content falls under the umbrella of Sónar+D; an ‘anti-disciplinary’ programme of performances, installations, and conferences taking place within Sónar by Day that explores how emerging technologies and digital creativity are shaping the world.
After three decades and over 100 editions worldwide, Sónar continues to re-define what a festival can be, removing barriers and forging connections between audiences, genres and creative disciplines.
