Following up his recent BBC Radio 1 and KISS FM backed bassline powerhouse Drop Down with Shanique Marie, Redlight returns with equally system-rattling single Down Down via his Lobster Boy imprint.
London-born and Bristol-raised, Redlight’s industriously creative and rave-ready productions echo the rich underground sounds of both cities. He spent the first ten years of his career mastering the DNB game as alias Clipz, achieving continued success with hits like last summer’s No Time with Nia Archives and Again with Ms Dynamite, which boasts over 12M Spotify streams. As Redlight, he embraced musical freedom by moving away from commercial pressures, achieving legend status in the early two-step, garage, dubstep, and minimal techno scene of the early 2010s.
Redlight has demonstrated his constantly growing sound with a diverse array of collaborations, from joining forces with the likes of Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs on BBC Radio 1 and KISS FM backed DFTD single Regulate to teaming up with pioneer of the UKG resurgence Conducta for a legendary Glastonbury set this past summer hosted by fellow Bristol hit machine Dread MC. In addition to releasing on imprints like Defected, Black Butter, Sony, and more, his own labels Dream Vision Future and Lobster Boy have nurtured emerging talent like Mella Dee and Sly One since 2009.
On the live front, Redlight has brought his unique brand of selection magic to festivals like Nass, El Dorado, Hideout, Snowbombing, and more. His recent Spring UK tour demonstrated his musical versatility performing as both Redlight and Clipz across Love Saves The Day, Motion, Fabric, and more and he whipped crowds into a frenzy at Jamz Supernova’s BBC6 stage at London’s All Points East Festival this past summer.
Drawing on the soft, glossy vocals of Latvian-born UK transplant Eliza Legzdina, whose university degree in classical opera has informed a fiercely feminine and boldly witty style that has seen features on Michaela Coel’s show I May Destroy You and additions to the FIFA 2023 Official Soundtrack, Down Down marks yet another party-starting bassline belter for Redlight.
Destined to cause havoc on the dance floor with heavily percussive breakdowns and wobbly basslines, Redlight’s latest single is a face-melting floor-filler informed by an impressive depth of experience.
Redlight – Down Down is out 27th October via Lobster Boy.
