Teaming up for their first collaboration, D&B legend and recent Black Butter signee Danny Byrd enlists rising star Charlotte Plank for crossover jungle anthem Let U Know.
Since becoming one of the first signings to legendary label Hospital Records, Danny Byrd has cemented his status as one of the greats, making a reputable name for himself for over two decades. His unique blend of hip-hop and R&B influenced D&B has landed him a slew of acclaimed albums including RaveDigger, which gave the world hits like Ill Behavior and Sweet Harmony and amassed over 4M and 5M Spotify streams respectively.
A staple of the D&B and jungle sphere bridging the gap between underground and crossover territories, his signature style has also led to no.1s on the Dance Singles Chart, UK top 40 hits, numerous BBC R1 plays, a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and more. Currently boasting over 5M streams, his 2021 collaboration Selecta with D Double E saw relentless airplay across BBC Radio 1 and KISS FM, sitting on the BBC Radio 1 A List rotation for 2 months straight, whilst winning Best Bass Track of the Year at the first BBC Radio 1 Dance Awards.
Recently closing out Balter Festival, Danny Byrd’s sellout Byrdhouse events have travelled across the UK, featuring the likes of Roni Size and Flowdan, who MC’d at his XOYO show in London earlier this year. Elsewhere, he crossed the pond this spring accompanied by Fred V and Whiney on the Hospitality Records North America tour, playing across New York City, LA, Las Vegas, Vancouver, and more.
Meanwhile, the past 12 months have seen a lifetime of achievements for singer, songwriter, and producer Charlotte Plank. Dubbed by BBC Radio 1 as ‘Best New Pop’, the 21 year old has already landed a spot on the NME Top 100 Artists to Watch in 2023, a live performance on Jack Saunder’s Future Artists show, and has performed alongside Rudimental at the O2 Academy Brixton, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Glastonbury and Parklife.
The cherry on top of her successes so far include two entries in the Official UK Chart with Dancing Is Healing alongside Rudimental and Vibe Chemistry (no.5) alongside day time rotation on BBC Radio 1, as well as Rave Out alongside Turno and Skepsis which earned Track Of The Week with Rickie, Melvin and Charlie. Now she gets ready for the hatrick with this new release.
With multiple strings to her bow, the British-Australian one to watch is also a proud member of Loud LDN, a female led collective also home to names like Piri, Willow Kayne, and Venbee who provide a much needed support system and soundboard in what is still an underrepresented industry for women. Also a remarkable solo artist, her debut release Hate Me set the foundations for Charlotte Plank’s ongoing success as an indemand collaborator, with the vision of “if Nirvana had made a D&B song”. Not looking back since, Charlotte continues to pull from a broad range of influences, including The Cure, Aphex Twin, The Prodigy, Lily Allen, Goldie, Bicep, Four Tet and more whilst telling cathartic and interesting stories in her song writing with tracks like White Noise which tells the story of distancing yourself from the same excuses and behaviours whilst LSD shared the emotions of getting caught up in a toxic relationship.
Now Charlotte Plank tells a new story for Let U Know with Danny Byrd about the shimmering excitement of new love whilst finding the contrasting space to explore feelings of wariness of entering a new relationship. Expressing the emotions amongst entrancing summer melodies against signature, hefty jungle breakdowns and Charlotte’s raw vocals, Let U Know demonstrates a hit in the making.
