The new additions to the Sónar Barcelona 2022 lineup.
C.Tangana, Bonobo, Agoria, Headie One, Lyra Pramuk, Coucou Chloe, For Those I Love, Overmono Live, Vegyn, LSDXOXO Live, Juicy Bae, Rojuu, Poté DJ Set, BRAVA, La Chica, IHHH & Desilence Live A/V, El Bobe, Mori+Rusowsky, Yugen Kala, ‘Uncompressed’ with Hainbach, Look Mum No Computer and Cuckoo presented by Patreon… and many more.

These 20 new shows for Sónar Barcelona 2022 expand the festival’s line-up in all directions, from local to global, and from the underground to international headliners.

The Sónar by Night programme for Friday and Saturday, already near completion, will be finalised with some big names in the coming weeks, while for Sónar by Day there are still around twenty artists to be unveiled, including some exclusive shows and a few surprises.

Headlining the announcement is C. Tangana. The most well-known figure in Spanish popular music today will return to Sónar to open Saturday night with an extraordinary show that will pull from his catalogue of hit singles and his latest album “El Madrileño”.

Headie One, the drill rapper who is revolutionising the genre in the UK, will make his first appearance at Sónar, following a UK #1 album in 2020 that featured collaborations with Drake, Stormzy and AJ Tracey (the latter already confirmed for Sónar 2022).

Sónar will also welcome an old friend, Bonobo, who will present his upcoming album ‘Fragments’, his most emotional and intense album to date. Also on the bill will be the opening act from his previous tour, Paris-based producer Poté (whose debut album came out on Bonobo’s Outlier label), who’ll perform a percussive, rhythmic DJ set.

Another Sónar regular, French DJ and producer Agoria, will return to the festival for an expansive and emotive DJ set revisiting his nearly three decades behind the decks. And British duo Overmono will also return to the festival – after a memorable debut in 2017 – for one of their euphoric live sets. Galician brothers Yugen Kala will also play a breakneck DJ set mixing bass music, grime and IDM.

Radical American vocalist and composer Lyra Pramuk is much more than just an incredible voice. The creator of one of 2020’s most astonishing albums will present a new audio-visual spectacle entitled “Echoluminescence” at the festival.

For acolytes of New York’s GHE20G0TH1K parties and those looking for more abstract club styles, LSDXOXO Live will present a new, politically charged live show. NUXXE label founder Coucou Chloe’s seductive mix of club aesthetics and experimental concepts will add a darker undertone to the programme, and Frank Ocean producer Vegyn’s abstract beats and laid-back vibe will be a perfect fit for Sónar by Day.

The current wave of youthful Spanish urban music will be well represented, with two 19-year-old sensations: Barcelona rapper El Bobe and rising Spanish trap star Juicy Bae. They will be joined by prolific emo-rapper Rojuu, another local artist warping the template of global trap. The duo Mori, Ruskowsky (who produced the track “Bien” for C. Tangana) will bring their intimate bedroom pop to the stage. Finally, Madrid via San Sebastian DJ BRAVA will mix reggaeton, trap and r’n’b with a vital and urgent sense of fun.

Also joining the programme today are two unconventional shows dealing with themes of loss and grief: the ritualistic music of French-Venezuelan artist La Chica, whose delicate piano merges with latin influence; while For Those I Love combines spoken word and electronica in a heartfelt eulogy for lost friend, bringing his sensational album of the same name to the stage.

Elsewhere, Argentinian experimentalist IHHH teams up with visual artists Desilence for a stunning audio-visual performance centred around the piano. And, in a unique collaboration presented by Patreon, Cuckoo, Hainbach and Look Mum No Computer will join forces for a special show that mixes demonstration, discussion and performance entitled “Uncompressed”.

All these new shows are added to the previous announcements which brought emerging artists together with the major stars of electronic music:

The Chemical Brothers, Moderat, The Blaze, Arca, Oneohtrix Point Never, The Blessed Madonna, Charlotte de Witte, Eric Prydz, Nathy Peluso, Folamour, Reinier Zonneveld, Princess Nokia, Channel Tres, Helena Hauff, Serpentwithfeet, Joy Orbison, AJ Tracey, Polo & Pan, Richie Hawtin, Kiddy Smile, Avalon Emerson, Tiga+Hudson Mohawke, ANNA, Scotch Rolex, DJ Marcelle/Another Nice Mess, Herrensauna XXL, Eris Drew B2B Octo Octa, DJ Python, Skee Mask, Morad, Venus X, Conducta, Critical Soundsystem, Manara, Ms Nina…& many more.

SonarPark by DICE, the new Sónar by Day stage.
Coucou Chloe, Overmono Live, Ms Nina, For Those I Love, DJ Marcelle, Morad, La Chica, Vegyn, Rojuu, El Bobe, Chico Blanco and Juicy Bae are some of the names that will be performing on this new Sónar by Day stage.

The new SonarPark by DICE is a playground, a space designed to showcase the spirit of Sónar at its broadest, most radical and most innovative, presented in collaboration with our ticketing partner and event discovery platform DICE. It’s both a vibrant party and a tribute to the ever-widening range of styles and ideas that make up global club culture.

For three days, from 16-18 June 2022, SonarPark by DICE will host an array of artists representing new musical languages that range from the local to the global.

A multicultural and genre diverse line-up includes artists such as the London producer and DJ Vegyn, a beatmaker whose style takes in dancefloor electronica, sophisticated pop and glitch-hop; and Overmono, whose creativity carries them beyond the borders of conventional house and techno.

From the local scene, the bedroom pop duo Mori, Rusowksy stand out; as does the youthful El Bobe, who at the age of 19 has managed to combine elements of drill, rap and afrobeats with his own unique personality. You’ll also find Ms Nina’s sweat-drenched reggaeton and dembow; Spanish boy in da corner Morad; the refreshing mix of grime, rap and eurodance delivered with a Granadan accent by Chico Blanco; the emo meets pop meets trap of Rojuu; the urban r&b of Juicy Bae; or the new generation of IDM and bass music DJed by the Yugen Kala twins.

SonarPark by DICE also expresses itself in multiple languages and accents. Look to the cross-cultural fusion of rap and noisy electronics of Kenyan-Japanese-Ugandan project Scotch Rolex, the abrasive cloud rap of France’s Coucou Chloé and the combination of latin influences and classical piano by French-Venezuelan La Chica. Elsewhere there’s a powerful mix of electronica and spoken word from Irishman For Those I Love, deconstructed latinx grime from Uruguayan Lechuga Zafiro or a typically unpredictable DJ set delivered by the much-loved DJ Marcelle, from Holland.

The first edition of Sónar Lisbon will be held in April 2022.
The first edition of Sónar Lisbon will be held on 8, 9 and 10 April 2022.

As part of the musical programme, the festival willl feature The Blaze (DJ set), Thundercat, Polo & Pan, Charlotte De Witte, DJ Nigga Fox, Floating Points, Nicola Cruz, Ellen Allien b2b Dr. Rubenstein, Enchufada Na Zona, Eu.Clides, FJAAK Live, Héctor Oaks, Iamddb, Jayda G, Kampire, Nídia, Pongo and DJ Stingray 313 Live, among many others.

In keeping with Sónar’s commitment to offering a diverse, restless and representative vision of the local and global scene, the Sónar Lisbon programme will feature artists from all over the world and from the Portuguese scene itself.

International heavy-hitters such as Charlotte De Witte, Jayda G and Floating Points will rub shoulders with local artists such as DJ Nigga Fox and Nídia, whose rugged, percussive sounds have put Lisbon and Portugal on the map again.

French duo The Blaze’s DJ set will be full of cinematic romanticism, while two generations of Berlin techno will meet behind the decks, as Ellen Allien goes back-to back with Dr. Rubenstein.

Kampire, from Ugandan label Nyege Nyege, will get pulses racing with her high-speed dancefloor psychedelia, before Ecuador’s Nicola Cruz soothes the mind and body with a spiritual live set inspired by traditional Latin American cultures.

More shows will be announced soon, as well as a full programme of debates, workshops and exhibitions. More information and tickets at sonarlisboa.pt
