Rising star Abraham Alberto is a growing talent based out of the San Francisco Bay area of California. Initially setting out to make a name in the drum & bass scene, Capturelight is also blending more leftfield influences including future bass-esque melodies with a splash of math rock for good measure, with the more expected elements of the genre. With recent releases on Night Owl Collective alongside official remixes for MYLK and Essenger, we welcome the young American to the fray with his debut 2-track release titled Circles.
The dreamlike, tumbling keys of ‘Circles’ give way to angelic vocals, slipping into a lumbering halftime groove. As the track progresses, the distant guitar plucks and airy vocal sample take centre stage while the intricate percussion continues to drive the pleasing soundscape on offer.
As it’s exuberant title might suggest, ‘Bubblewrap’ is perfect for whittling away the afternoon, blending smooth, warming synths and uplifting harmonic patterns with drums that ooze bouncy jungle flavour. The swirling and expansive melody lines will ensure that you hear something new every time you envelope yourself in this track’s protective soundscape.
As we slowly slip into Autumn, don’t sleep on this pocketful of San Francisco sunshine, out in all good stores from the 21st of August.
